A few days ago we posted some information regarding the 2023 MS-1 and evidently one item in particular caused some confusion. Let me try to rectify that.

You can refer to the original blog post in its entirety, but it stated that, while the format had not changed for 2023, nonetheless six utility companies were either added, renamed, or removed. The portion that confused some was as follows (emphasis added):

“If your municipality DOES NOT include one of the utilities listed below then… congratulations! You can generate, export, and submit your 2023 MS-1 Report to DRA at any point with the current version of Avitar Assessing — you do not need to update anything.”

and in particular:

“You can generate, export, and submit your 2023 MS-1 Report to DRA at any point“

I was speaking here from a software standpoint. However, do not submit your MS-1 to DRA without first coordinating with your assessor. While the submission will technically work, it may not necessarily be correct unless your assessor has completed any updates necessary for 2023.
