Recently, the DMV notified us of the passage of HB292 relative to boat fee changes. The Milfoil fee will increase from $3.50 to $5.50 effective January 1, 2015. The DMV acknowledged the fee change will impact the registration of all boats with an expiration of 2015.
The DMV will be sending out boat renewal notices to boat owners after October 15, 2014 for the 2015 boating season. Customers receiving a renewal notice from the DMV will see the increase included in the amount due.
If you use the MAAP Boat Module within Avitar Clerk/MV we will be contacting you in the coming weeks to import a script into your database that will add the new fee amount that will take effect November 1, 2014. Boats that are renewed for the 2015 boating season prior to January 1, 2015 will be charged the new fee.
If a customer wishes to register a boat for the 2014 boating season after November 1, 2014, please call the Avitar Help desk before you start the registration.
