Most of you have received emails and updates from the DMV outlining their schedule (see below) for the implementation of the new driving license system (VISION). We have received a few inquiries asking how the implementation of VISION affects Avitar clients and want to update all of you.
We have updated the Avitar Clerk/MV system to be compatible with the impending MAAP VISION changes. Primarily, these changes by the state are designed to accommodate longer owner names and utilize new driver’s license numbers. Several weeks ago we submitted the required documentation and results to the state and they certified our application. Since then, we have been actively testing the updated Avitar application (both in a VISION environment and in the existing environment) to verify that the changes don’t have unintended consequences on any other aspects of the application (e.g. dog licensing, clerk services, Invoice Cloud renewals, etc.).
We expect to complete our own testing in the next week or two, in anticipation of being able to distribute an application update to you well in advance of the state’s expected implementation date. The Avitar update will include a flag within the database that will be pre-set to begin utilizing the VISION functionality on the state’s expected implementation date. So as long as you install the update prior to their implementation you will be ready to go. If you aren’t able to install the update prior to the state implementation you won’t be able to communicate with MAAP, but we’ll give you plenty of time in which to install the update. In the event the state is forced to change the implementation date, we will just need to follow up with each of you to run a script that will postpone the date within your software on which the system begins utilizing the VISION functionality.
However, as it stands now, based on the schedule DMV circulated in an email on January 13th, you should expect the following:
- Thursday, February 16th: Make sure you process a financial close out by the end of day for all state work. Also, all state funds need to be deposited by the close of business.
- Friday, February 17th: You will only be able to complete the town portion only and will need to log into Avitar Clerk/MV as “Offline Municipal Agent”. This means you cannot process any state work. DMV offices will be open to complete the state portion of all registrations.
- Monday, February 20th: (Presidents’ Day. Both Avitar and DMV closed). If you are open, you will need to log into Avitar Clerk/MV as “Offline Municipal Agent”. This means you cannot process any state work.
- Tuesday, February 21st: You will only be able to complete the town portion only and will need to log into Avitar Clerk M/V as “Offline Municipal Agent”. This means you cannot process any state work. DMV offices will be closed. We will be sending out an email in the afternoon with a progress update. If all goes well, you will be able to process state work on Wednesday the 22nd.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions or concerns. And keep your eyes on your email in the coming weeks for notification from us that the update is available to download and install.
