Managing Your Archive and/or Update Databases

Throughout the last year, we introduced the Archive Database(s) and Update Database features within Avitar Assessing. Some of you have already utilized these features but we would like to revisit them as we feel they are valuable tools and we have expanded on them since our last discussion. If this topic is completely unfamiliar to you, visit our online documentation for a complete description and a summary of how to manage these features. If you are familiar with the concepts keep reading for a discussion of requirements and new options.

Do You Need To Archive Your Taxable Values?

As we approach the end of the year it’s important that some of you remember to manually archive your system’s 2014 taxable values. For those of you that use Avitar Assessing in conjunction with Avitar Tax Collect, this archival will be done automatically for you by the system when you formalize your final tax warrant — which is to say you don’t need to do anything. If, however, you use Avitar Assessing to determine values, and you then reenter those values into another application for calculating and collecting taxes then it’s impossible for the system to determine when you have truly finalized your 2014 assessments. Those of you in this latter category will need to manually archive the taxable values if you wish to have them display properly in the Value History grid. Keep reading for instructions on how to do so.

Dog Charges

The last Clerk/MV update had a lot of changes to the Dog Module, which means we have received a lot of questions as well. The majority of the questions are relative to dog charges (e.g. what are dog charges and why are they showing up in the cart) and dog civil forfeiture letters (e.g. when do I assign the costs to the dogs).
