Assessing Software Update

We will be releasing an update in early January. This update will allow you, first and foremost, to archive your assessment database by year from within your system, and provide you with the ability to refer back to prior years’ data at any time. Additionally, in the very near future, a subsequent update will allow you to seamlessly maintain a working copy of your current assessing database so that you or your assessor can be working on a revaluation or update while the current parcel attributes and assessments remain unchanged. So in effect, you will be able to look both backwards and forwards from within the system. Following is a list of features, as well as a few things you can do in anticipation of the update.

Upcoming Tax Collect Update

Attendees to our Tax Collect User Group at the conference in North Conway may remember that we announced that we expected to be shipping a Tax Collect update in November or December.  These same attendees may now be asking themselves, “Hey, where’s my update?” Well we are still working on it as some of the changes to notices required multiple revisions.  But we should have it ready to go by mid to late January. We swear. Here’s some of what you can expect:

Avitar Associates — Holiday Software Support

Software Support Holiday Availability

Avitar has traditionally closed our offices between Christmas and New Years as many municipal offices generally slowed down during this week and taxpayers — even more so than usual — didn’t want to be bothered by assessors measuring and listing their houses during the holidays.  However, as our number of clients has grown to include more and more tax collect and motor vehicle users, this holiday shut down has become increasingly inopportune for some clients. We want to pass along some information we learned today from one of our clerks. They were having trouble completing the state portion of a title application after they had originally processed the title application as town-only. So they called the DMV Help Desk for assistance. Continue reading

Wedding Bells and Ringing Phones

Two of our Avitar colleagues will be getting married this Friday evening. Like, to each other. So since most of us will be attending the ceremony and reception and few, if any, of us just roll out of bed looking wedding-level photogenic we will be closing our office at approximately 2:00 PM on Friday, September 27th.

After 2:00 PM on Friday we will have no phone support to answer questions and problems related to general assessing, Assessing software, Tax Collect software, Building Permits software, Utility Billing software, and general IT support issues.  And we will have only limited coverage for Clerk/MV software issues.  We ask that you try to limit calls to critical issues that can’t be answered by someone else in your office and can’t wait until Monday.

We apologize if this inconveniences any of you, but c’mon… two of our friends/co-workers are getting married!  Like, to each other.

Assessing Rant re: DRA Mosaic

Well as most of you know, Gary has semi-retired and is living in Florida. As I know many of you had grown accustomed to his rants over the years, I wouldn’t want to break tradition and, as such, it is with great pleasure that I present you with my current rant. Continue reading

2013 MS-1: The Wrath of Khan

Time for the latest episode in our ongoing MS-1 blog anthology. We have completed our testing and have ironed out a few last minute issues with the DRA’s latest MS-1 Report. We are creating the update discs right now. They should go in the mail this afternoon so look for them to arrive in the next few days.  Here are a few details…
